Obituary of James J. Russo

James J. Russo, 88, of Upper Deerfield Twp. passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Born in McComas, West Virginia to the late Dominick S. Russo and Victoria Milia Russo he was the husband of the late Doris L. Tedrow Russo. James came to the Bridgeton area as an infant and had been a lifetime Upper Deerfield Township resident. He worked at Owens Illinois Glass Company in Bridgeton for 33 years until the plants closing, he then worked at Durand Glass retiring after several years. In high school he had worked for Bianco Auto Body in Bridgeton where he learned everything from sanding to painting. He was also a devout parishioner at the Immaculate Conception Church in Bridgeton. From the time he was a teenager until recently he did mechanic work, always keeping his hands busy. He was constantly fabricating or repairing something in the garage, he could truly fix anything. James also owned a small family farm. In his free time, he enjoyed working on and maintaining his property, vegetable garden, raising live stock and spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Tina Marie Russo-Rios (Luis) of PA, Michael L. Russo (Elizabeth) of Upper Deerfield Twp. and Christopher J. Russo (Theresa) of Millville; six grandchildren, Michael L. Russo Jr., Natalie Rios-Angotti (Jeffrey), Brittany Tully (Scott), Blake Russo, Joshua Rios and Brittany Russo (Kyle); six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Rose Russo of AL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Russo and seven siblings. A Memorial Mass and Funeral Liturgy will be held at the Parish of the Holy Cross, Immaculate Conception Church, 312 North Pearl St, Bridgeton, at 2:30 PM on Friday, Oct. 29th. A visitation will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp., from 1 PM to 2 PM prior to services at the church. Inurnment will take place at Overlook Cemetery, 100 Overlook Drive, Bridgeton following services. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in James' memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
