Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alice Louise Hughes (Bennett) was born on January 7, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Matthew Bennett and Minnie Lee-Ratliff Bennett. She fell asleep in death on September 15, 2021, in Vineland, NJ. Alice was raised in Woodstown, NJ and Camden, NJ. She attended Camden Public School System where she graduated from Camden High School, Class of 1971. Alice was employed in the medical field as a Medical Transcriptionist. Alice greatest joy was to serve her Heavenly Father, Jehovah. She was so proud to be one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her first introduction to the truth was by her mother, who taught her both qualities and commandments of Jehovah. She held the scripture, Exodus 20:4,5 in her heart throughout her life. At the age of six years old she attended her first convention at the Yankee Stadium on August 3, 1958, "Divine Will International Convention." Alice was baptized on December 4,1971 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She would share with all she encountered about Jehovah's Kingdom. The love of Alice life was no doubt Irving Hughes Jr. (Jimmy). When you saw Alice, you saw Jimmy. For 43 years they shared a love that grew. Alice loved his humility, his humbleness, working in his garden or riding his tractor and how loving he was with the grandchildren. One of their most honored time was when both of them auxiliaries pioneered together April 2017, she was 65 and he was 74. Family was special to Alice. She was no doubt one of the family’s historians and often expressed about family and how important it was to stick together. Alice was truly a gem to anyone that she encountered. Her love was special! When she spoke, it was from a real and genuine place that she would portray herself. Alice was the light in our lives, the shoulder for us to cry on, the strength that we needed and a love that could not be matched. She will be deeply missed by all she encountered. Alice was preceded in death by children Patrica Hughes, Glen Ross Jr. and Alenda Keys (Ross), her parents Matthew Bennett and Minnie Lee-Ratliff Bennett, siblings Beverley, Melvina, Naomi, Violetha and Nanette, step siblings Beverly, Tyrone, Charles, Amy and William.
