Obituary of Emily H. Sheppard

Emily H. Sheppard, age 95, formerly of Bridgeton, NJ died on August 23rd, 2021 in Lafollette, Tennessee. Mrs. Sheppard had been living in Tennessee with her daughter, Linda S. Wilson for the past two years. Born at the “Seven Gables” in Bridgeton she was the widow of Paul C. Sheppard, her loving husband of 60 years. She had resided in the Woodruff/Bridgeton area for 25 years, the Vineland area for 4 years and the remainder of her life in Greenwich, NJ. Mrs. Sheppard had attended the Woodruff Grammar School for 4 years, transferring to Seabrook School after Woodruff School was closed. She graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1943. She was secretary to the Cumberland County Engineer for 3 years. She was then employed by the Bridgeton Board of Education as secretary to all the Elementary School Nurses, retiring after 28 years in 1992. Mrs. Sheppard was a member of the Canton Baptist Church and the Greenwich Baptist Church during her lifetime. Her survivors include her two daughters, Ruth Ann Gerard of New Market, TN and Linda Sheppard Carll Wilson and her husband, Sewell Wilson of Lafollette,TN; daughter-in-law, Kathy Sheppard of Greer, SC; grandson, John Paul Sheppard, Jr. and wife Angie Sheppard of Greer, SC and sister-in-law, Helen Howell of Knoxville, TN. In addition to her husband, Paul C. Sheppard, she was predeceased by her son, John Paul Sheppard, her daughter Linda’s husband Robert C. Carll, Jr., her daughter Ruth Ann’s husband David A. Gerard and her brother Albert Howell. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Friday, August 27th at 11:00 AM.
