Obituary of Dr. Elder Willie Joe Fletcher

Dr. Elder Willie Joe Fletcher was born on December 21, 1934 to the late Joseph Fletcher, a railroad brakeman, and Catherine Fletcher (Middleton-Cobb), a homemaker, laundress and landlady. In his early years, he lived in Waycross GA alongside his siblings, Odalthus, Leo, Catherine, Etroy, Rosemary, and Charles. In 1956, he married his longtime sweetheart, Vernelle Ree Davis. God blessed the Fletchers with five children: William Joel, Vaughan Dewee, Timothy Toy, Bryan Keith, and Knesha Leighann. He built their home on 50 Sharp Ave in Bridgeton, where he lived until the death of his love, after 64 years of marriage. . He departed this life on July 11,2021, surrounded by his family. He is predeceased by his wife, Vernelle Fletcher; both parents, Joseph and Catherine; three brothers, Odalthus, Leo, and Etroy; two sisters, Catherine and Rosemary; and one child Andrea. He leaves to cherish his memory, 5 children; William Joel Fletcher, Vaughan Dewee Fletcher (Youtha), Timothy Toy Fletcher, Bryan Keith Fletcher, and Knesha Cypress-Johnson (Darryl); 3 Daughters in Love, Cynthia Fletcher, Debra Howell, and Jennifer Crocker. 10 grandchildren: Jamil Istawa (Keyona), Tiffany Moon (Daniel), Chimere Lynn (Raymond), Brandy Bennett (Nickoy), Taureen Hall, Ryan Holland (Derrick), Tamoya Fletcher, Indeya Fletcher, Christian Lorenzo (Kylon), Vaughan Fletcher Jr. (Monica); 25 Great-grandchildren, one brother, Charles Fletcher; one sister-in-law Otelia Fletcher, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and “spiritual children”. Funeral services will be held at Cecil Deliverance Tabernacle, 1110 Coles Mill Rd, Williamstown, NJ 08094, on Saturday, July 31st at 11 AM Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
