Please share a memory of Kathryn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kathryn Eva Myers (nee Rosypal), of Ventnor, passed away Friday, July 23rd, 2021, at the age of 81, following an extended illness. Formerly of Bridgeton and Cedarville, she had resided in Ventnor since 2006. Daughter of the late Mary and Walter Rosypal, she was predeceased by her first husband, Claude F. Rudderow, in 1998; her brother, Walt, in 2014; her son, John Albert Rudderow, in 2017; and her second husband, Charles E. Myers, in 2019. Kay, as she was known to most, retired in 2006, after 41 years as a reporter for the Bridgeton/Millville News, where she began her career as a “stringer” working part time while raising her children, entering her much-loved work field full time in 1976. She was a graduate of Bridgeton High School Class of 1957. During her younger years, she was active in the Lawrence Township community, as a member of the Myron L. Powell Elementary School Board of Education, Cedarville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, PTA, First Presbyterian Church, and Memorial Day Committee. After her marriage to Charles Myers in 2006, she transferred her membership to the Margate Community Church where she was active in its organizations and events. She enjoyed writing even after retirement, reading, sketching, beach combing, concerts, the theater, and traveling. Kay was known for her delicious baked goods and jams, always sharing the treats with those she loved. She was incredibly resourceful and even created a book of her life tips and tricks for working mothers titled, “Cutting Corners.” She also penned a book of stories from the perspective of cats, called “Cat Tales.” Kay was an excellent photographer and had a spectacular eye for flowers, cats, seascapes, and the bay. She is survived by a daughter, Donna Lynn Spickler, and her husband, Les, of Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Jennifer Lauren Henderson, and her husband, Eric, of Millville; and Rebekah Elizabeth Kaysen, of Philadelphia; three great-grandsons, Gary, Jake, and Evan; and two sisters. Sarilee (Nick) Rio, of Upper Deerfield Township, and Nora Stone, of Arizona. Graveside services will be held Friday, July 30th, at 11 a.m. with interment in the family plot in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 197 Main St., Cedarville. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Foundation, Cancer Society, or Lung Association. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township. Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
