Obituary of Elaine M. Weiss

Elaine Marie Servais Weiss, age 89, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Tidewell Hospice in Arcadia, Florida. Born at home in Fairfield Twp, Cumberland County, New Jersey on November 4, 1931, she was the daughter of Phoebe Perry Servais and Frank Joseph Servais, Jr. She graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1949. At the young age of 68, she received her Bachelor’s degree from Florida Southern University. Elaine spent much of her work life at Theber Corp. in Bridgeton, New Jersey as a seamstress. She raised her 3 children as a single mother for much of their young lives. She moved to Florida around 1989 where she lived until her death. Her family will remember her as a fun-loving, wonderful lady and as a fearless traveler and explorer. She planned a road trip from the east coast to Alaska and back before the days of the internet! Quite a feat of planning was involved. She enjoyed baking and made elaborate wedding cakes for the marriages of all her children. She was known for her peach cake and apple cake! Elaine was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Samuel Chase Chapter located in Salisbury, Maryland. She attended the Fort Ogden Community Church. Elaine is survived by two of her children, son Carl Rainear and his wife Rose in Arcadia, Florida and daughter Judy Halter and her husband Jerry in Salisbury, Maryland. Grandchildren include Christina Minkewicz, Darcy Moon, Daniel Halter, Carl Rainear, Jr. and Russell Rainear. She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by several dear friends in Florida – Elle, Judi and Beth. All three ladies were very helpful in her final days. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, son, Bruce Osborn, her husband, Eagle Weiss, an older sister Francine who lived for one day, and three younger brothers, Frank III, Donald and Richard Servais. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Bridgeton, New Jersey. Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes in Arcadia, Florida handled arrangements in Florida. Padgett Funeral Home in Upper Deerfield Township, New Jersey will handle the services in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a contribution can be made to the Hospice of your choosing in honor of Elaine’s memory.
