Obituary of Wayne Henry Smith

Wayne Henry Smith, 75, of Hopewell Twp. passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at his home under the care of hospice and his family. Born in Bridgeton to the late Norman A. Smith, Jr. and Thelma Hollenweger Smith, he was the husband of Audrey Ragan Smith. Wayne had been a resident of Hopewell Twp. for the past 28 years and prior to that he had lived in Bridgeton. Before his retirement, Wayne had served as a police officer with the City of Bridgeton Police Department for 28 years. He then started driving bus for the Bridgeton Public School District for over 10 years. In his free time, Wayne was an avid sky diver and fisherman. He also enjoyed wildlife. He and his wife, Audrey had celebrated 52 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, Audrey, he is survived by his son, James S. Smith of Hopewell Twp.; his brother, Robert Smith of Fairton; his sister, Shirley Williams of Upper Deerfield Twp. and his grandson, Justin Smith of TN. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Smith. A walkthrough visitation will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, June 3rd from 10 AM to 12 Noon.
