Howard E. Bowyer, Jr., 68, of Millville, formerly of Port Norris, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Born in Bridgeton to the late Howard E. Bowyer, Sr. and Annie Lee Bush Bowyer, he was a lifetime resident of Port Norris before moving to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 2003. Howard moved to Millville in the summer of 2020 where he lived until his passing. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Prior to his retirement, Howard had worked at Gorton's Seafood in Millville for many years. He had also worked at various jobs in Wyoming including carpentry, landscaping and a working on the railroad. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Norris where he was baptized in 1965 and where he sang in the Men's choir. Howard was passionate about his music and singing. In his free time, he enjoyed playing chess, doing outdoor activities and shooting pool. His family described him as a sharp dresser who enjoyed putting on his finest clothes to go out. He is survived by; his children, Howard E. Bowyer, III (Jacqueline) of Clementon and Heaven T. Bowyer of Glassboro; his granddaughter, Angel Bowyer; five siblings, Patricia Bowyer of Millville, Denise Bowyer of Pasadena, MD, Katrina Stolz of Cheyenne, WY, Ernestine Bowyer of Millville and Lugenia Murray of Millville; four aunts, Eddie, Mary, Elsie and Lillian and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, David Sims, Jonathan Murray and Jack Stolz. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2411 Memorial Ave, Port Norris, NJ 08349 on Friday, May 14th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
