Obituary of Pedro Cruz

Pedro Cruz, 62, of Hopewell Twp. passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday evening, April 14, 2021 at his home. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico to the late Pedro Cruz-Pabon, the late Maria Theresa Rivera and his birth mother, Lydia Ortiz. He moved to Norma from Puerto Rico when he was eight years old and had been a resident of the Bridgeton area since the late 1960's. Pedro had been currently employed at the Vineland Shoprite in the Produce Department. He had been previously employed at the former Silverton Yacht Co. in Millville, the former M&G Electrical Supply in Bridgeton and had done farm work as a young man, harvesting blueberries and peaches. Pedro had been a boy scout in his youth. In his free time, he played in several local softball and bowling leagues. Pedro also owned several cars over the years including a Camaro and most recently a Mustang GT. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing. Pedro loved to spend time with his family and they described him as the life of every party. He had attended the Parish of the Holy Cross-Immaculate Conception Church in Bridgeton. He is survived by; his birth mother, Lydia Ortiz; his children, Antonio Cruz of TN, Lillian Ramirez (Vidal) of Hopewell Twp. and Marisol Cruz of Fairfield Twp.; his grandchildren, Maria Roman, Louis Roman III, Vidal X. Ramirez, Vidalis Ramirez, Qysheem A. Cruz, Emany D. Cradle, Bernasia S. Burden, A'miyah P. Burden, Jada L. Cruz and several other grandchildren; his great-granddaughter, Kaylani L. Negron; his siblings, Andres Gonzales, Eva Gonzales, Doris Gonzales, Carmen Quintana, Maricella Cruz-Brown and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by; his brother, Ruben Cruz, Sr. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday, April 23rd at 4 PM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 3 PM to 4 PM on Friday afternoon, April 23rd prior to the services. Due to current regulations associated with the Covid-19 healthcare situation, we are limited to 75 people within the funeral home at a time and the understanding and cooperation of the public is greatly appreciated.
