Anna Mae Carver, 83, of Newport went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the home of her daughter and son in law, Sandra and Pastor Steven Sheppard in Newport under the care of her family and Hospice. The daughter of the late Albert Weldon, Sr. and Alberta Ewan Weldon and the wife of the late Charles Jackson Carver, she was born in Newport and had lived there nearly her entire life except for a 20-year period she had resided in Millville. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a bus driver with the Laidlaw Bus Company for over 30 years. Anna Mae attended Newport Baptist Church and in her free time enjoyed painting ceramic animals, putting together puzzles, doing number fill-in books, scratching off lottery tickets, coloring books, playing Pinochle and Poker with family and friends. She made contributions regularly to St. Jude, Ronald Mc Donald’s House of Philadelphia, Shriners Hospital and Alex’s Lemonade Stand. She is survived by her children, Vicki Torrie of Winter Haven, FL, Jackie Hess (Charles, III) of Deerfield Twp., Sandra “Sandy” Sheppard (Steve) of Newport, Tammy Campagna (Francis) of East Vineland and Tracy Carver of Bridgeton; her sister, Dorothy Ripley of Millville; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Carver, her brother, Albert Weldon, Jr. and her three sisters, Della McPherson, Marie Baglio and Helen Horner. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Wednesday, April 7th at 11:00 AM. A “walk through” visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Newport Baptist Cemetery in Downe Township. Due to current regulations associated with the Covid-19 healthcare situation, we are limited to 75 people within the funeral home at a time and the understanding and cooperation of the public is greatly appreciated.
