Obituary of William J. Mather

William J. Mather, 91, of Hopewell Twp. passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Born in Bridgeton to the late Sylvester Mather and Laura Krause Mather, he was the husband of Patricia Parker Mather who he celebrated 70 years of marriage with in July of 2020. He had been a resident of Hopewell Twp. for the past 40 years and prior to that he had resided in Bridgeton. Before retirement, William had been the owner and operator of the former Bridgeton Transit Company. In his free time, he and his wife, Patricia loved to collect and sell antiques. William also enjoyed playing the saxaphone. He is survived by; his wife, Patricia Parker Mather of Hopewell Twp.; three daughters, Adeleen Jones of South Carolina, Laureen Baer of Florida and Bilinda Mather of South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Borntrager and Paula Caughron; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Sylvester “Jack” Mather. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Friday, January 29th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
