Nathaniel “Bobby” Robert Knox, 49 of Pittsgrove Twp. passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2021 at Inspira Medical Center-Elmer. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Nathaniel William Knox and Carolyn Ann Bailey Knox, he was the fiance of Lauren Suprun. Nathaniel had grown up in the Pemberton and Pittsgrove Area and had graduated from Schalick High School. He was a resident of Pittsgrove Twp. most of his life. Nathaniel had been employed as a Sheriff's Officer with the Salem County Sheriff's Department and the Salem County Corrections Facility for 8 years. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. and had served for over 17 years from 1990 to 2007. Golf Battery 3rd Battalion 14th Marines (3/14). Nathaniel had served two tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. During his time in the Marine Corp he had achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and received the USMC-Commander's Award. Nathaniel was a member of the Fraternal Order of Freemasons in the 22nd Masonic District Lodge 69 in Vineland and had accepted the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the the Knights of Columbus. Nathaniel attended Cumberland County College and graduated in the 32nd Basic Recruit Class of the Gloucester County Police Academy in 2007. Nathaniel was described as an intelligent man who loved a good political discussion. He also loved to work with his hands building and fixing things. He was a car lover especially of BMW's and he rode a BMW street bike. He also enjoyed gardening and meticulously caring for his lawn and property. He volunteered giving his time to Toys for Tots through the USMC. He was a kind, loyal, and caring man. He is survived by; his fiance, Lauren Suprun of Pittsgrove Twp.; his son on the way, Nathaniel Robert Knox, Jr.; his step-daughter, Erika L. Robinson and his God-brothers, Jonathan Moyer and Timothy Moyer. He was preceded in death by; his parents, Carolyn Ann and Nathaniel William Knox and his grandparents, Catherine and Robert E. Bailey. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Saturday, January 30th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Salem County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Pilesgrove. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. Due to current regulations associated with the Covid-19 healthcare situation, we are limited to 50 people within the funeral home at a time and the understanding and cooperation of the public is greatly appreciated.
