Obituary of John H. Miller, Sr.

John H. Miller, Sr., 56, of Hopewell Twp. passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland following an extended illness. Born in Bridgeton to the late Donald Miller, Sr. and Eleanor DeWitt Miller, he was the husband of Marcella Griner Miller. He had been a resident of Upper Deerfield Twp. for most of his life before residing in Hopewell Twp. Prior to his retirement, John had worked on the Maintenance Staff at Cumberland Regional High School for five years. He was previously employed as a certified boiler operator and supervisor at Cumberland Dairy for 10 years and at Minot Food Company for 16 years. John was a former member of Pearl Street Baptist Church in Bridgeton where he married his childhood sweetheart, Marcella on March 7th of 1998. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and crabbing, watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies and gardening. His family described him as a caring family man who thought the world of his grandchildren. He is survived by; his wife, Marcella Griner Miller of Hopewell Twp.; his son, Lt. Col. Daniel Griner USMC (Rika) of Virginia; his daughter, Kelly Griner (Edwin) of Bridgeton; six grandchildren, Ronald Spatola, Jr. (who he and his wife raised), Judia Griner, DJ Griner, Karmeron Griner, Aaliyah Griner and Diyonna Griner; four sisters, Barbara Rispoli, Connie Messing, Sherrie Rice and Patti Palm and three great-grandchildren, Shawn, Jr., Kamiah and Samaij. He was preceded in death by; two brothers, Thomas Miller and Donald Miller, Jr. and two sisters, Donna Burgess and Theresa Porcelli.
