Obituary of Brenda L. Zurlo

Please share a memory of Brenda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Brenda L. (Brown) Zurlo of Elmer, NJ gained her heavenly wings in the early morning of January 19, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer that she ultimately could not win. Born the eldest daughter on August 25, 1957 in Salem Hospital to the late Carroll and Julia (Moriarty) Brown. Brenda married her high school sweetheart, the late Larry Zurlo, and is survived by her 3 children. Brenda started her career as an EMT that lead to nearly 30 years working in the ER. So many lives were touched during her years serving in emergency medicine, whether it was to teach, to heal or both. One of her proudest moments was on September 11, 2001 traveling with other Upper Deerfield Rescue Squad members to New York City-Ground Zero to be a part of the rescue & recovery mission. No one was a stranger to her. Everyone will remember her infectious laugh as well as her sense of humor. She enjoyed researching genealogy and finding family history dating back centuries. Nothing calmed her soul more than “a trip down south” to the mountains of Western North Carolina where her father was from. She also leaves behind her cherished cat, KitKat. She is survived by; her daughters, Sandy Mick, Sherri (James) Vega; her son, Anthony (Kelly) Zurlo; her niece she helped raise, Andrea (Brian) Rossello; her grandchildren, Tallon & Kylie Mick; James Jr., Mikayla and Alex Vega, Anthony Jr. & Daniel Zurlo, Brevin and Erika Vega and Brialynn Rossello. She was preceded in death by; her infant daughter, Michelle Zurlo, her brother, Carroll “Butch” Brown Jr.; her sister, Sandra “Sandy” Brown and many other family members including Aunts and Uncles as well. Funeral Services will be held at the Padgett Funeral Home, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Monday, January 25th, at 1PM, Interment will take place at Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township.
