Obituary of Jesse Johnson, Jr.

Jesse Johnson, Jr., 71, of Bridgeton passed away on Monday, January 4, 2020 at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland. Born in Linden, AL to the late Jesse Johnson, Sr. and Betty Hackworth Johnson, he confessed to Christ at an early age, was baptized and joined Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Linden, AL. Jesse moved to the North East in his late teens and settled in South Jersey in the early 1980's. He had lived in both Camden and Bridgeton. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the Campbell's Soup Company in Camden. Most of his working career had been spent working for Job Corp and he had worked at various positions across the North East Region. He had also been employed by Volunteers of America. Jesse continued his education throughout his life and had specialized in Psychology and Social Services. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, fishing and collecting antiques. He had attended Union Baptist Temple while living in the Bridgeton area. He is survived by; nine children including, Kendra Brown of NJ, Michael Hudgins of PA, Tristina Fitzpatrick of PA, Carisa Davis of PA, Jessie J. Johnson III of PA and Justin Bard of NJ; three brothers, Rev. C.L. Hackworth (Brenda), Jimmie Johnson and Henry Johnson (Alice); two sisters, Georgia Thurman and Louvenia Minor (Joe); three sisters-in-law, Elder Patricia Johnson, Inez Johnson and Tina Johnson; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, January 21, 2020 at 2 PM. Interment will take place at Fordville Memorial Park in Fairfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 1 PM to 2 PM prior to the services.
