Obituary of Dana A. Comer

Dana Annette Comer, 43, of Bridgeton, NJ, quietly transitioned from life on earth and gracefully entered the divine presence of the Lord on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Inspira Hospital in Vineland, NJ. The daughter of Pastor Alfred and Lady Phyllis Comer, Dana was born on August 3, 1977 in Burdette-Tomlin Memorial Hospital in Cape May Court House, NJ. Dana entered this world on her grandfather Fred’s birthday, and departed on her grandmother Alberta’s birthday. When she was a child, Dana’s parents moved their small family to Connecticut where Dana attended public schools. Dana also attended schools in New Jersey when her parents moved to Bridgeton. As a student at Bridgeton High School, Dana played basketball, ran track, and was a member of the BHS Marching Band color guard. Dana graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1996 and completed her studies in cosmetology at Cumberland County TEC and used those skills as a hairdresser, a profession she shared with a grandmother, mother, and a daughter. At the time of her transition, Dana was employed as a Program Supervisor with REM New Jersey (New Jersey MENTOR) in Millville, NJ. From her first job, Dana demonstrated leadership qualities, eventually promoted to manager at McDonald’s, later working in administration at Seabrook House and as a driver for Jac-Medi, transporting patients to medical appointments. Dana prayed and interceded for and ministered to the body of Christ. Dana enjoyed much of the finer things in life; however, her greatest love was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Living out Revelation 12:11, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony …” Dana led many souls to Christ by sharing her life story and by preaching the word of God. Operating in the five-fold ministry gift of Prophetess, she boldly and confidently proclaimed “what saith the Lord.” Dana was one of the founding disciples of Life In Christ Ministries International where she served in many capacities. She was a member of the Ministry team, taught Foundational and Life classes, ministered in song on the Praise and Worship Team, and served with the Audio and Video ministry. Dana was inspired by God to establish “Heirs of the Anointing,” a ministry designed to unify the kingdom of God. Dana enjoyed spending time with her family, especially laughing and talking with her children and grandbabies. She was passionate about family and extended family activities and had a big heart, embracing many others as her family. To any that embraced her back, she became not only a friend but “sister”, or “auntie Dana”. Dana also enjoyed singing, listening to music, and traveling with family and friends. When she needed to clear her mind, she often found her way “to the water” where she would sit on the beach and meditate, reflect and pray. Dana was a bright light in a world filled with darkness. Her contagious smile, encouraging words and friendly spirit illuminated a path for many to find their way out of challenging places. Dana lived a full life in her 43 years; she loved the Lord and served Him well. She was ready for her promotion to the presence of God. In addition to her parents, Alfred and Phyllis Comer, Dana is survived by her paternal grandmother, Alberta Williams, her brother, Immanuel N. Comer and wife Dr. Stacy Comer; her children, De’Sean M. Hill and fiancé Irv Muse Jr., Tre’von M. Brown and wife Shadequa Brown, Ximear Comer, Carylon N. Doyle, Ty-mira N. M. Doyle, Cylah D. Doyle, Christopher D. Doyle Jr., Teyanna Lawrence, Alazia J. Lawrence and Liayra J. Lawrence; Godchildren, Paris R. Fentress, Myangel Fentress and Quadir Fentress; and grandchildren Kayla Brown, Tre’von Brown Jr., Serenity Muse, Ian Muse, Amari K. Comer, Antonio Bruton, Anariyai Bruton and Azzuri Bruton. She also is survived by her niece, Eliyanah Comer, and nephew, Ezra Comer, and a loving host of aunts, uncles, cousins, church family and friends. Dana was predeceased by her maternal great-grandparents, Clarence Sr. and Bessie (Wortham) Williams; her paternal great-grandmother, Matilda Comer; her maternal grandparents, Phillip and Jane (Williams) Grant; her paternal grandfather, Fred McDonald; and her baby sister, Monique Yvette Comer, who passed away in 1981 at the age of 7 months. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9th at 11:00 AM at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 8:30 to 10:30 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Township.
