Obituary of Richard B. Blew

Richard B. Blew, 87, of Fairton passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at his home with his family. The son of the late Raymond Blew and Virginia Hall Blew, he was born in Bridgeton and was the husband of Alice Kandle Blew. He had been a Fairton resident since 1944 moving there from Hopewell Township. For many years he owned and operated Blew Valley Farm in Fairton as a dairy farmer. He also farmed vegetables and operated flower greenhouses. The Blews were well known in the area for their corn which was sold roadside at their home for many years as a special summer treat. Richard was an accomplished wood worker and furniture maker. He had also built his own “western saloon” located in one of the barns at the farm. He was an avid hunter and dedicated member of the Fairton United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife Alice, he is survived by his son, Richard B. Blew, Jr. (Melanie) and his daughter, Terri L. May (Steven Ernest) of Hopewell Township; five grandchildren, Ashley Haas, Erin Blew-Romano, Garrett Blew, Allison May and Catie May, seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Blew, Jr. of Fairton; one sister, Joan Perticari of Fairton and a very special person in his life who he grew to love as a member of his own family, Luis Lopez. Funeral services will be held at the Fairton United Methodist Church, 20 Main Street, Fairton on Tuesday, December 29th at 11:00AM. Friends will be received at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the services. Interment will take place at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Richard’s memory be made to the Fairton United Methodist Church, 20 Main Street, Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
