Please share a memory of Kathryn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kathryn E. Pancoast, 71, of Bridgeton passed away on Wednesday, Nov 25that Arden Courts in Cherry Hill. The wife of Howard Pancoast, she was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey and was the daughter of Lewis & Lillian Stoms. Beginning her teaching career at the Morris Goodwin School in Greenwich, Kathryn touched the lives of many students in more than 30 years of teaching. 18 of those years were taught at the Deerfield Presbyterian Nursery School and she retired at Deerfield Elementary School after many years of teaching. Kathryn, a tomboy at heart, was determined, gentle, loving and kind. She loved the outdoors and was passionate about serving others in the community. She served as a leader in both cub scouts and 4-H, and was one of the first female fire fighters of Upper Deerfield District 31 Fire Company. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Howard Pancoast. She was a wonderful mother to her sons, Christopher of Okinawa, Japan; Douglas and his wife, Amy, of Traverse City, Michigan; as well as her daughter, Joy, and her husband, Steven Cole of Pittsgrove, New Jersey. She is also survived by her father, Lewis Stoms and her stepmother, Dorothy, as well as her brothers, Lewis Stoms, Jr. (wife-Barbara) and Eugene Stoms (wife-Deborah). Kathryn was also an intentional and fun-loving Nanny to her twelve grandchildren. She was the type of Grandmother who didn’t sit on the sidelines; she was either out playing football, on the floor playing make believe, dancing in the living room, gardening, raising butterflies and catching toads, to name a few. She was also very passionate about her relationship with Jesus. She loved singing and listening to praise and worship music, attending church, and spending time praying, reading Scripture, and encouraging others in their walk with the Lord. In lieu, of flowers, donations to the Cumberland County SPCA or the National Breast Cancer Foundation are appreciated.
