Joseph “Joby” Livingston, 78, of Millville passed away at Cumberland Manor in Hopewell Township on Friday, November 27, 2020.
The son of the late Gilbert Livingston and Viola Martin Livingston, he was born in Newport and was the husband of Darlene Bowser Livingston. He had lived in Millville for 40 years and had been a Port Norris resident prior to that.
A recipient of the Purple Heart, he served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
Before his retirement, Joby had been employed with Wheaton Glass Company in Millville for over 30 years. He had also worked on Oyster Vessels out of Bivalve before that.
He was a member of the John Wesley United Methodist Church in Port Norris where he tirelessly served as head cook and was responsible for the preparation of many meals for special occasions at the church. Joby enjoyed carpentry and woodworking in his free time.
In addition to his wife Darlene, he is survived by seven children, Sharon of SC, Anita of Millville, Tracey of Millville, Diane of Millville, Andre of Millville, Carolyn of Vineland and Joseph, Jr. of Millville; several grandchildren including two special grandchildren, Ariana Livingston and Andre, Jr. and also several great-grandchildren and two sisters, Violet White of Port Norris and Shirley Hayward of DE. He was predeceased by seven brothers, Phillip Martin, Sherman Livingston, Clarence Livingston, George “Jackie” Livingston, Alonzo Livingston, Melvin Livingston and Howard Livingston and five sisters, Evelyn Whittington, Lucille Ennals, Laura Jean Langley, Barbara Forman and Lottie Bethel.
Funeral services for the immediate family will be held on Thursday, December 3rd at 11 AM at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. A drive-through viewing will be held on Thursday from 9 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Township. Due to current regulations associated with the Covid-19 healthcare situation, we are limited to 50 people within the funeral home at a time and the understanding and cooperation of the public is greatly appreciated.
