Obituary of Herschel Stanford Deshields

Herschel Stanford Deshields, Jr., 73, of Millville passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. The son of the late Herschel Stanford Deshields, Sr. and Viola Hull Deshields he was born in Quantico, Maryland and was the husband of Janice R. Wise-Deshields. He had been a Millville resident since 1982 and had lived in Maryland prior to that. A Veteran of the United States Army, Herschel served his country during the Vietnam Conflict as a Paratrooper and was awarded the Purple Heart. Before his retirement, he was a truck driver for over 30 years for several businesses in the area. Herschel was a member of In His Presence Worship Center in Millville where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed fishing, the Philadelphia Eagles and visiting with his family. In addition to his wife, Janice, he is survived by nine children, three brothers, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his “In His Presence Church Family”. Graveside funeral services will be held at the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, 95 Trench Road, Hopewell Township on Friday, November 20th at 11:00 AM where the interment will follow the services. A drive through viewing will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM.
