Warren Hemple, Sr., 78, of Bridgeton passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the home of his son under the care of hospice. Born in Hopewell Twp. to the late Clarence Hemple and Elizabeth E. Everingham Hemple, he was the husband of the late Margaret T. Gleissner Hemple. Warren had been raised in Hopewell Twp. but had been a resident of Bridgeton most of his life. Warren was a veteran of the United States Navy serving on active duty from 1960-1963 and as a Navy reservist from 1963 to 1966. He served on the USS John W. Weeks, a destroyer that was the first to enter the Black Sea since World War II. During the Cuban missile crisis the USS John W. Weeks served as an escort vessel in the areas of conflict and replenished supplies to the quarantined Cuban Island. Warren had achieved the rank of E-3 and was awarded the Navy Expeditionary Medal. Prior to his retirement, he had been most recently employed as a custodian at Woolwich Twp. School for a short time. Warren had been previously employed as a truck driver for many local trucking companies from 1998-2002, as a custodian for the Egg Harbor Township Board of Education at Swift School for 1992-1998 and as a soda truck driver and salesman for Pepsi and 7up for about 15 years. He had also been co-owner and operator of the former CNW Used Cars in Bridgeton for about six years. He had been a member of the Millville Assembly of God since 1974 where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, served as a Royal Ranger leader and helped with transportation. In his free time, Warren enjoyed working on and racing cars in his younger years. His love of Fords stayed with him throughout his life and he owned many Mustangs over the years. He is survived by; three children, June Miranda (Ray) of Fredericksburg, VA, Warren Hemple, Jr. (Donna) of Vineland and Wendy Rieco (Andrew) of Stafford, VA; ten grandchildren, Clarence Hemple, Jr. (Rebecca) of Bridgeton, Martin Hemple of Millville, Lauren McAllister (Kevin) of Stafford, VA, Matthew Warren Hemple of Vineland, Catie Rieco-Kunkel (Michael) of North Smithfield, RI, Jacob Miranda of Fredericksburg, VA, Noah Rieco of Stafford,VA, Josh Hemple of Vineland, Emma Rieco of Stafford, VA and Madison Miranda of Fredericksburg, VA; an adopted grandchild, Jacob Hulitt of Bridgeton; six great-grandchildren, Sadie, Olivia, Gavin, Naomi, Cindy and Finnegan and his sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Messick of Bridgeton and Edie Hitchner (Pastor Neal) of Hopewell Twp. He was preceded in death by; his wife, Margaret T. Hemple; his daughter, Cindy Hemple, his son, Clarence Hemple, Sr. and his brother, Clarence “Butch” Hemple. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, November 12th at 2 PM. Interment will take place at Cumberland County Veteran's Cemetery in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 12:30 PM to 2 PM prior to the services. Due to current regulations associated with the Covid-19 healthcare situation, we are limited to 50 people within the funeral home at a time and the understanding and cooperation of the public is greatly appreciated.
