Obituary Merline Coombs, 77, of Bridgeton passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Cooper University Hospital in Camden. Born in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica to the late Levi Fletcher and Evris Brown Fletcher, she was the wife of the late Allan Coombs. Merline had been a resident of Bridgeton for the past 47 years and prior to that she had resided in Rosenhayn. Prior to her retirement, Merline had been employed as a seamstress at the former Major Clothing Co. in Bridgeton. She is survived by eight children, Lillian Ellis of Vineland, Audrey Coombs of Bridgeton, Sandra Elmore of Bridgeton, Michelle Coombs of Bridgeton, Sharon Coombs of Vineland, Maflda Spence of Fairton, Samuel Coombs of Vineland and Issac Coombs of Millville; her brother, Trevor Fletcher of Jamaica; two sisters, Junnie Fletcher and Dorothy Buchanon of Jamaica and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Itah Coombs and three sisters, Phyllis Fletcher, Angella Fletcher and Mavis Fletcher. Graveside funeral services will be held at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, 457 Greenwich Rd., Bridgeton, NJ on Saturday, October 24th at 11:30 AM. Friends will be received at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. from 9 AM to 11 AM on Saturday morning, October 24th prior to the graveside services. Due to current regulations associated with the Covid-19 healthcare situation, we are limited to 50 people within the funeral home at a time and the understanding and cooperation of the public is greatly appreciated.
