Joan C. Clour, 81, of Lower Alloways Creek passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Salem Hospital. Born in Bridgeton to the late Paul Harry Blakeslee and Louise Eugenia Erhart Blakeslee, she was the wife of the late James F. Clour, Sr. Joan had moved to Lower Alloways Creek in 1958 where she was a resident for the rest of her life. Prior to that she had resided in the Bridgeton Area. Before retirement, Joan had worked as a gardener for Butler Gardens for about four years. She had also been previously employed at Gainor Glass Co. in Salem for several years. Joan was also a dedicated homemaker. She was a member of Canton United Methodist Church in Lower Alloways Creek where she served as the church custodian. In her free time, she loved bird watching especially cardinals, gardening and spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, James F. Clour, Jr. and his wife, Joan of Quinton Twp., Jeffrey Clour of Lower Alloways Creek, Joseph Clour of Lower Alloways Creek, John Clour of Lower Alloways Creek and Jamie Peterson and her husband, Mike of Lower Alloways Creek; her siblings, Lois Stoppelbein of Chester, VA, Paul Blakeslee, Jr. of Harrington, DE, John Blakeslee of Burnsville, NC and Faith Marshall of Chester, VA; her brother in law, Dan Davison of Berlin, NJ; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by; her husband, James F. Clour, Sr.; her son, Jay Clour and two sisters, Anna Godfrey and Dorothy Davison. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Tuesday, October 6th at 1 PM. Interment will take place at Canton Baptist Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11 AM to 1 PM prior to the services. Due to current regulations associated with the Covid-19 healthcare situation, we are limited to 50 people within the funeral home at a time and the understanding and cooperation of the public is greatly appreciated.
