Obituary of Shirley A. Harden

After a protracted battle with cancer, Shirley A. Harden, age 76, transitioned on Monday, September 21, 2020, at home in Millville, NJ, surrounded by the love of her family. Shirley was born December 14, 1943, to the late Paul and DeLitha Harden. She grew up in a large loving family with five sisters and three brothers. She was employed by Vineland Developmental Center, retiring after 20 years of service. Shirley was a previous member of Union Baptist Temple, Bridgeton, NJ and later in life a member of Bethel AME Church, Millville, NJ. An exemplary mother and homemaker, Shirley was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She was a true enthusiast sports woman and a true Philadelphia Eagles fan, always looking forward to watching the Eagles play Dem Boys! Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, William Harden, Harry Harden, Paul Harden, Dorothy Norton and Elizabeth Robinson. Left to honor Shirley and remember her love are Shirley’s four children, Jason Harden (Charlene) of Millville, NJ, Robert Harden of Florida, Diane Armstead (Rev. Dr. Leonard) of Millville, NJ and Veronica Edmonds (Daniel) of Bridgeton, NJ; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nina Harden and Pearl Hull of Vineland, NJ, Doris Whyte of Delaware and Bertha Morris of Florida and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her spirit will continue to be with us throughout our lives and will shine as bright as the morning star. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Monday, September 28 at 11 AM. Interment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Millville. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. Due to current regulations associated with the Covid-19 healthcare situation, we are limited to 50 people within the funeral home at a time and the understanding and cooperation of the public is greatly appreciated.
