Minnie Pearl Harris, 76, of Bridgeton passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at her home. Born in Sumner, GA to the late Freddy Lee Williams and Della Mae Broner Williams, she was the wife of James E. Harris, Jr. Minnie had resided in Bridgeton since the late 1990's and prior to that she had lived in Vineland, North Carolina and Virginia Beach. Prior to her retirement, Minnie had been employed at the Vineland Developmental Center for many years. She was a dedicated member of Union Baptist Temple in Bridgeton where she served as President of the Usher Board, sang on the choir, worked in the kitchen and volunteered in her time in the child care center. In her free time, Minnie enjoyed talking on the phone with her family and friends and playing bingo at the Inspira Life Center in Vineland. She was also an avid cook and baker and she was known for her sweet potato pie, baked macaroni and cheese and her 7-up pound cake. She is survived by; her husband, James E. Harris, Jr.; her children, Nanetta “Peanut” Williams of Durham, NC; John Veney, Jr. of Bridgeton, Alvin Veney of Norma, Chris Veney of Charlotte, NC, and Reginald Veney of Bridgeton; her step-children, Tyrone Wright of Vineland, Sharon Thompson of Vineland , Ali Wright of Bridgeton and a host of neices, nephews, grandchildren and other family members. She was preceded in death by; her son, Johnathan Veney, Sr. and her siblings, Freddie Mae Stewart, Mary Jane Jarrett, Frances Huggins and Sherrie Keith. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Monday, August 24th at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at Cumberland County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Hopewell Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services. Due to current regulations associated with the Covid-19 healthcare situation, we are limited to 50 people within the funeral home at a time and the understanding and cooperation of the public is greatly appreciated.
