Obituary of Sandora King

Sandora King, 102 years old, of Port Norris passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at her daughter’s home in Vineland. Born in Conetoe, Edgecomb County, North Carolina to the late Jordan and Emily Norfleet Hopkins, she was the seventh of ten children, all now deceased. She was educated in the Rosenwald Rural School System thru the Chinquapin School in Conetoe, NC. Before her retirement, she was employed by the Vineland Developmental Center, Port Norris Packing Company, Susie Bell Canning Company, Capaldi Farms and also in private family domestic work. She was a faithful and tithing member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Port Norris for several decades and faithfully served with the Usher Board, Missionaries and the Bread from Heaven Bible Study Group. She is survived by her four daughters, Hazel Kirby of Port Norris, Sara Marshall of Vineland, Emma Hackley of Paulsboro and Clara Harrell of Port Norris and her adopted daughter, Louise Hunter of Vineland; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Wilkerson and second husband, Leotha King. Sandora was a kind and considerate person who loved the Lord, her Family and did the best she could for those whom she came in contact with. She was honored as a “Port Norris Legend” by the Port Norris Historical Society. Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Monday, July 6th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
