Henry Lee Walker, 84, of Bridgeton passed away peacefully at his home on May 15, 2020. Henry was born on December 22, 1935 in Hollywood, Florida to the late Virginia Maria and Wilson Walker Sr. He was educated in the Bridgeton Public School system. Henry met and married Eileen “Snipes” Walker in 1958 while serving in the United States Army in North Carolina. Henry and Eileen relocated to Bridgeton soon after they were married. He had worked for the Tri-County Community Action Agency for eighteen years as a personal assistant. Prior to that he had worked at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital, Salem Pipe and Iron and Owens Illinois Glass Co. He was a member of Bethany Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bridgeton where he had served as Head Deacon, a member of the Treasury Board and van driver. He served the church in addition to those duties as he went above and beyond facilitating whatever needed to be done. In his free time, Henry enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching Cowboy movies and being a handyman. Henry loved caring for and serving the church where he was Head Deacon from the 1980's through the early 2000s. He also enjoyed driving for family trips, being a jokester, fixing bikes and cars, teaching everyone to drive and so much more. Henry answered to many names such as; Mr. Walker, Dave, Brother Walker, Uncle Dave, Hun, Dad and Pop Pop. He was a great protector which anyone who knew him could vouch for that. He is survived by; his wife, Eileen Walker of NJ; five children, Donna Manor, Robbye Walker, Tanya Walker, Christopher Walker and Henry Walker all of NJ; three sisters, Hattie Smith of TN, Thelma Coates of TX and Mattie Pratt of NJ; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Walker and several brothers and sisters. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11AM Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Bethany Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 32 S Burlington Rd, Bridgeton, NJ 08302. Immediately following the services military burial honors will be held at Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery in Hopewell Twp.
