Donald K. Jones, 79, of Dividing Creek, passed away in the Capital Health Center, Trenton, on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, after a brief illness. The husband of Miriam Lore Jones, he was born in Price, Utah and was the son of the late Meryl Jones and Sidonia Johnson Jones. He had been a resident of Dividing Creek for the past 51 years, coming there from Utah. Before his retirement, he had been employed with Pennsylvania Glass Sand Co. in Newport for over 40 years. Donald was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the United States Air Force. He was a former member of the Dividing Creek Volunteer Fire Co. and was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener and enjoyed doing home restoration projects. Besides his wife, survivors include: one son, Bernard Jones, Newport; two daughters, Diane Woodside, Lawrenceville and Caroline Gavigan, Bridgeton; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Jones and a sister Myrlene Black. Rev. Doug Chaney, pastor of the Dividing Creek Baptist Church, will conduct graveside funeral services at the Newport Baptist Cemetery, Newport, on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 12:00 O'clock noon. Burial will follow the services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main St., Cedarville.
