Andrew C. Barton, 48, of Newfield passed away suddenly an unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Born in Vineland to George Barton and Donna Glendon Orton, he had been a resident of Newfield for the past two years. Andrew had been raised in the Elmer area but had also lived in Mays Landing and Egg Harbor City. Prior to his retirement, he had worked as a gas station attendant at the Wawa in Malaga. He was a long time employee of the Atlantic County Sheriff's Department where he had achieved the rank of Sergeant. Andrew was a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Air Force National Guard serving tours of duty in Operation Dessert Storm/Shield with the 82nd Airborne Division and the Afgan Conflict. He had achieved the rank of Corporal. In his free time, Andrew enjoyed playing video games, board games and reading about history, philosophy and science. His family described him as an adventurer who loved to travel and help anyone in need. He is survived by; his children, Evan Barton of Vineland and Ali Pagano of Albany, NY; his mother, Donna Orton and her husband, James of Bridgeton; his father, George Barton of Elmer and his sister, Jean Ann Maguire and her husband, Terrance of Media, PA . Graveside services and military burial honors will take place at Finn's Point National Cemetery, 454 Fort Mott Rd., Pennsville, NJ at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Andrew's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516 or to PACT for Animals, P.O.
