Obituary of Edward C. Kalendek

Please share a memory of Edward to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edward Charles Kalendek, 78, off Millville passed away peacefully at his home on February 28, 2020, with his wife Barbara of 54 years and his four children at his bedside. Edward was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Edward F. Kalendek and Victoria Glodek Kalendek in 1941. He spent his career working as a dedicated sales executive in the glass and plastics industries. He traveled the United States by plane and car for his work, visiting every bakery he could. Edward found and made friends everywhere he went. A devout Catholic, Edward will be remembered for his generosity, his award-winning jams and jellies, his love of Eastern shore decoys, beekeeping and mushroom-hunting. He was a 6’ 4” gentle giant who was very proud of his Polish-American heritage. He was fond of ridiculously long car rides, farmer’s markets, laughing, talking about food and telling funny stories. Edward’s signature look was suspenders and monogrammed Brooks Brothers shirts and he had an amazing mustache for much of his life. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children Julie, Jeffery, Jason, Zoë and son-in-law Brennen; brothers David and Mark; nephews Michael and Todd; and by his half-sister Jennifer. A memorial celebration is planned for the Spring, please check back for dates. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Edward’s memory to the Dementia Society of America, https://www.dementiasociety.org/donate, or Catholic Charities, Baltimore, cc-md.org/Edward. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Padgett Funeral Home. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com
