I got to know Mattie when she was a crossing guard for the Millville Police Department. She ALWAYS came in with a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. On Thanksgiving she asked me what kind of pies I made. I said pumpkin. She said I had to try sweet potato. When she found out that I had never had a sweet potato pie before, two days later she showed up at the PD with a homemade pie. (Which was delicious) My thoughts and prayers go out to Mattie's family and friends.
