Obituary of Charles L. Shakelton

Charles L. Shakelton, 82, of Pittsgrove Twp. passed away on Wednesday evening, December 4, 2019 at the Eagleview Center.

Born in Baltimore, MD to the late John W. Shakelton and Ruth Lister Shakelton, he was the husband of Dollie B. Hess Shakelton and the late Evelyn Joyce Dillon Shakelton. Charles had been a resident of Pittsgrove for the past year and prior to that he had lived in Buena and Fortescue.

Before his retirement in 1999, he had worked for the Coca Cola Bottling Co. for 30 years. Prior to that, he had owned and operated his own over the road trucking business. Charles had also obtained his boat captain's license and had operated charter fishing vessels out of Fortescue. He was a member of the New Life Worship Center in Pennsville.

He is survived by his wife, Dollie Hess Shakelton of Pennsville; three daughters, Teresa Killingsworth (James) of Franklinville, Regina Henderson (Rondy, Jr.) of Rosenhayn and Junell Lilly (Robert Westergaard) of Millville; a step-daughter, Debra Cooper of Pennsville; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia L. Shakelton; a brother, John W. Shakelton, Jr. and four sisters, Jean S. Shafer, Jane Cohen, Anna Hunt and Martha Shakelton.

Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Wednesday, December 11th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
