Beulah Hickman, age 73, of Salem died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Cooper Hospital in Camden following a brief illness. The daughter of the late Henry Smith and Lula Mae James Smith, she was born in Amsterdam, GA on June 27, 1939. She had lived in Salem for 25 years and was a Bridgeton resident prior to that. Before her retirement, Ms. Hickman had been employed with the Ecko Products Company in Clayton for 25 years. Surviving are her daughter, Deborah Pope of Salem; four sisters, Lois Hunter of Vineland, Gladys Lewis of CA, Mary Wise and Dale Smith both of Bridgeton; a special niece, Cheryl Smith of GA, 2 granddaughters and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Anita Hickman, two brothers, Henry Smith, Jr. and Leonard Smith and five sisters, Willa Mae Harris, Phyllis Smith, Pearl Smith, Estella Jacobs and Dorothy Smith. Funeral services will be held at Union Baptist Temple, South Pine St. and Martin Luther King, Jr. Way, Bridgeton on Wednesday, Sept. 12th at 11 AM. Burial will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Township. Friends will be received at the church from 9 to 11 AM Wednesday prior to the services. Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Township.
