Obituary of Delores Garland

Delores Garland, 72, of Vineland passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland.

Born in Port Norris to the late Leon Johnson and Catherine Beachaump Johnson, she was the wife of the late Charles L. Garland. Delores had been a resident of Vineland for the past 40 years and prior to that she had lived in Millville and Port Norris.

Before her retirement, she had been employed at the Vineland Developmental Center and Forster Forbes Glass Co. in Millville. Delores was a member of Union Baptist Temple where she sang with the early morning choir. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to gospel music and shopping. Delores also loved her dog, Prince.

She is survived by seven children, Carter Lorenzo Johnson and his wife Michelle of Vineland, Margaret Gould and her husband, Anthony of Vineland; Antoinette Stewart and her husband, Michael of Blackwood; Carmella Johnson and her husband, Erick of Vineland; Leonard Garland of Blackwood; Andrea Bettis of Sicklerville and Katrina Garland-Stephenson and her husband, Keno of MD; seven brothers and sisters, Eugene Johnson and his wife, Wanda of Port Norris, Almajean Johnson and her husband, Beckett of Millville, William Johnson and his wife, Carolyn of Port Norris, Larry Johnson of Millville, Darlene Jamison and her husband, Fletcher of Port Norris, Carl Johnson of Millville and Brenda Heath of and her husband, Larry of Port Norris and nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by; a daughter, Melinda Johnson and a brother, Howard Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at Union Baptist Temple, 30 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way, Bridgeton on Friday, October 25th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
