Helen “Shirlee” Sassani, 96, of Bridgeton passed away early Monday morning, June 10, 2019 at her home.

 

Born in Cedarville to the late William Roy Bowers and Abbie Burt Bowers, she was the wife of the late Vincent Sassani. Shirlee had lived in California briefly before moving to Silver Springs, MD for several years. She had lived in Bradenton, FL until 2007 and then returned to the Bridgeton area.

 

Prior to her retirement, Shirlee had worked for the National Institute of Health in their research facility in Bethesda, MD as a film operator. She had also been formerly employed at the Vineland Developmental Center. In her free time, she was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed crocheting. Her family described her as very handy and she enjoyed cooking Italian food.

 

She is survived by; Diane Barker and her husband, Carl of TN; her sister, Maxene Ausburn of Bridgeton; eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren/ Besides her husband, Vincent, she was preceded in death by; two sons, Charles Robert Shull and Wayne Roger Shull and two brothers, William R. Bowers, Jr. and Marlon T. Bowers.

 

Funeral services were held privately at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp. Written condolences can be sent to the family through the funeral home website at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com
