Obituary of Sylvia Reid

Sylvia Reid, 82, of Brotmanville passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Inspira Medical Center-Vineland.

Born in Philadelphia, Mississippi to the late William Rush and Lillie Clemons Rush, she was the wife of the late Edward Thompson and the late Loxley Reid. Sylvia moved to Brotmanville in 1949 with her family where she resided for the rest of her life.

Prior to her retirement, Sylvia had been employed as a home healthcare aide at Cumberland County Healthcare in Millville for over 20 years. She had been previously employed at the former East Coast Foods in Vineland for over 25 years.

Sylvia was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Brotmanville. In her free time, she enjoyed singing, bowling, flower gardening and adult coloring books.

She is survived by; three children, Vicki Mutcherson and her husband, Jesse of Brormanville, Cynthia Miller and her husband, Lawrence of Brotmanville and Bruce Thompson and his wife, Deborah of Atlantic City; two nephews that she raised, Laurence Trussell and Larry Trussell, Jr.; 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by; her first husband, Edward Thompson; her second husband, Loxley Reid; a brother, John Rush; three sisters, Oddie Myrick, Beatrice Patton and Shirley Rush and two great-grandchildren, Christopher Cook and Zamyra Mutcherson.

Funeral services will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 1201 Gershal Ave., Brotmanville on Friday, June 7th at 10:30 AM.
