Obituary of Darryl Kenneth Greene

Darryl K. Greene, 71, of Fairfield Township on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 following several years of failing health. The husband of Rita N. "Tootsie" Greene, nee Sorantino, he was born in Bridgeton and was the son of the late Kenneth Greene and Margaret Fox Greene. He had been a resident of Fairfield Township for several years and prior to that had he had lived in Bridgeton. Retired since 1988, he had been employed as a police officer with the City of Bridgeton for several years. He then worked as a Cumberland County Sheriff's Officer and had served as Chief of Police in Lawrence Township. He retired from the Division of Motor Vehicle Inspection Station in Upper Deerfield Township. Darryl was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, where he served as a meteorologist. His hobbies were metal detecting, digging for bottles and camping. He was a motorcycle and antique car enthusiast. Besides his wife, survivors include: one son, Brian J. Greene, Fairfield Township; one daughter, Kimberly A. Sedeyn, Vineland; two sisters, Beverly Knapper, Vineland and Margaret Sakamoto, New York; six grandchildren, Kayla Greene, Tommy Sedeyn, Jamie Sedeyn, Brook Sedeyn, Katie Sedeyn and Kristy Sedeyn and great grandchildren, Jacob, Julianna and Angelina. Funeral services will be held in the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 160 Main St., Cedarville, on Thursday morning, Aug. 30, at 11:00 O'clock. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Cedarville. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday morning between 9:30 and 11:00 O'clock.
