Obituary of Lawrence "Larry" A. Polhamus, III

Lawrence Austin Polhamus III (Larry) (48) of Sheppards Mill Road, Bridgeton passed away suddenly while at work in St. Augustine, FL on February 20, 2019. He was employed by Asphalt Paving Systems as an Operating Engineer.

Born in Vineland (1970), Larry was a Bridgeton resident for most of his life. He attended Hopewell Crest School and Cumberland Regional High School. In his youth, he enjoyed playing soccer for Cohansey Soccer Club. In his early teen years, he developed a passion for dirt bikes and motocross. Larry loved riding his dirt bikes throughout Hopewell Township and competed in a few local motocross events. He continued to ride well into his twenties. For several years, Larry resided in Lakeland, Key West and Islamorada, FL. He then relocated to Beacon Falls, Connecticut for a brief time. Larry was a member of IUOE Local 825 Operating Engineers in New Jersey and had previously been a member of IUOE Local 542 in Connecticut. He enjoyed landscaping his home’s yard and also the next door neighbor’s yard, planting and maintaining vegetable gardens, rooting for his favorite football team, the Kansas City Chiefs, and sharing funny stories at family gatherings about his many life and work experiences he had over the years.

Larry is survived by his son, Justin T. Benton, his mother, Margaret Dooley Polhamus, his sister, Kelly A. Fogg (Mark), his nephew, Mark C. Fogg, Jr. (Miranda Schaffer), his niece, Carlie M. Fogg (Colin Black), great niece, Layla M. Fogg, great nephew, Mark C. Fogg III, aunts, an uncle, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence A. Polhamus, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, February 28th at 12 Noon. Interment will take place at Laurel Lawn Cemetery in Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services.
