Obituary of Gary Mitsuru Takata

Gary Mitsuru Takata, 60, of Deptford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at his home under the care of hospice and his family.

Born in Bridgeton to the late Minoru “Min” Takata and Tsutako “Suzie” Taniguchi Takata, he was the husband of Patricia Gwynn Takata. Gary had lived in Deptford since 1999 and prior to that, he had resided in Landsdale and Bridgeton.

Gary had been employed as a Draftsman for PJM Mechanical in Ewing for the past five years. He had been previously employed at Falasca Mechanical in Vineland from 2002-2014. Gary was a member of the Seabrook Buddhist Temple and the Seabrook Japanese American Citizens League. In his free time, Gary enjoyed fishing and traveling in his RV with his wife, Patricia and their two dogs, Yuki and Umi. He had also served as webmaster for the WIT Jersey Seashells RV Club and as the former Vice President of the Good Sam Sand Snipers Club.

He is survived by; his wife, Patricia Takata of Deptford; his sister, Karen Morikawa and her husband, Derek of San Diego, CA; his brother-in-law, Charles E. Gwynn, III of Abingdon, MD; a niece, Megan Morikawa of Miami; two nephews, Evan Morikawa and his wife, Nora Goldman of Brooklyn, NY and Shaun Bailey of Abingdon, MD; his great-nephew, Kai Pettigen and his beloved dogs, Yuki and Umi.

Memorial services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Sunday, March 10th at 12 Noon. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 11 AM to 12 Noon prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made in Gary's memory to the Seabrook Buddhist Temple, 9 Northville Rd. Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
