Joanna N. Bowen, 97, of Millville passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019 at her home under the care of her family.

 

Born in York, PA to the late Herndon Taughinbaugh and Anna Victoria Jackson Taughinbaugh, she was the wife of the late Russell Bowen, Sr. Joanna had been a resident of the Millville for the past 10 years but prior to that she had lived in; Baltimore, MD, Tuscola, IL, Atwood, IL, Towson, MD, Haddon Twp., Williamstown and Washington Twp.

 

Joanna was a homemaker who tirelessly cared for her family for countless years. She was a member Haddonfield Presbyterian Church. In her free time, Joanna enjoyed flower gardening and was a master of the difficult task of caring for African Violets. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and enjoyed bird watching.

 

She is survived by; five children, Bonnie Pesek and her long time companion, Rick Fisher of West Baden, IN, Russell L. Bowen, Jr. and his wife, Kaye of Hillsboro, NM, Kathleen Vaughan of Martinsburg, WV, Victoria Eisenhardt of Millville and Richard S. Bowen and his wife, Sharon of Vero Beach, FL; her siblings, George Houdeschel of Blairsville, GA, Betty Harner of York, PA, Gwendolyn Burkhardt of Phoenix, MD and David Frederick Houdeschel of Louisville, KY; 10 grandchildren, Becky Davis, Shelly Mocci, Andrew Bowen, Kathleen Bowen, Terence Eisenhardt, Joy Hetrick, Jerry Fred Vaughan, Jennifer DeShields, Kristen Eisenhardt-Kazaoka and Daniel Bowen. and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by; two sisters, Louise McGill and Annette Crawford and a brother, Jack Taughinbaugh.

 

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. A private interment service will take place at Mount Zion Methodist Cemetery in Freeland, MD at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made in Joanna's memory to the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter, 1244 N Delsea Dr, Vineland, NJ 08360 or to the Bridgeton Salvation Army, 29 W Commerce St, Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
