Obituary of David L. Gwinn

David L. Gwinn, 64, of Deerfield Township passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at home under the care of hospice and his family. 

Born in Hinton, West Virginia he was the son of Maxine Kincaid Gwinn-Polhamus and the late Grover L. Gwinn.  He had been a resident of Deerfield Township for over 20 years and prior to that had lived in Bridgeton and West Virginia. 

A member of First Wesleyan Church in Upper Deerfield Twp., he was a 1973 graduate of Bridgeton High School and later graduated from the Atlantic County Community College Culinary Arts Program.  He had a passion for cooking and was employed with several restaurants including the Bridgetowne Restaurant in Bridgeton and the Hickory Steak House in Upper Deerfield Twp.  He was also a painter with Union Local 626 in New Castle, DE.  David enjoyed gardening and small engine repair and volunteered his skills as a painter regularly at the Bridgeton Salvation Army. 

In addition to his mother, Maxine and step-father, Steelman Polhamus of Deerfield Township, he is survived by four siblings, Wanda DuBois (Robert) of Upper Deerfield Twp., Rosalind Spragg (Ed) of Somers Point,  Angelo Gwinn (Terry) of Hopewell Twp. and Dennis Gwinn of Deerfield Twp. along with several nieces and nephews.

 Memorial Services will be held at the convenience of the family at First Wesleyan Church on a future date.  Arrangements are under the direction of the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, Upper Deerfield Twp.  Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
