Obituary of Norman E. Shimp

Norman E. Shimp, 84, of Bridgeton passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Cooper Hospital University Medical Center in Camden.

Born in Salem, he was the husband of Barbara Ann Rabbai Shimp and the son of the late Norman Shimp and Hannah Watson Shimp.  He was a lifetime Bridgeton area resident. 

Prior to his retirement, he had been as a supervisor with the Atlantic City Electric Company working out of the Bridgeton service center. 

Norman had served as Mayor of Shiloh Borough for 15 years and also as a member of the Shiloh Volunteer Fire Co. and Shiloh Rescue Squad.

He was an avid bowler and Philadelphia sports teams enthusiast, especially the Philadelphia Phillies.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, he is survived by five children, Vicki Cook (Randy) of SC, Karen Lizarzaburu (Pete) of DE, Kevin Shimp (Gigi) of Stow Creek Twp., Cosmo F. Terrigno (Beatrice) of Upper Deerfield Twp. and Phillip Terrigno of Philadelphia, PA; a sister, Alayne J. Strang of Upper Deerfield Twp.; two nephews, Alan and Mark Strang; a niece Tracy Sareyka, 16 grandchildren, multiple great-grandchildren and great nieces and great nephews. 

Memorial services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Monday, December 3rd at 11 AM.  Friends will be received at the funeral home prior to the services from 9 to 11 AM.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions in Norman's memory be made to Woodland Country Day School, 1216 Roadstown Road, Bridgeton, NJ  08302.  Written condolences can be sent to the family at www.padgettfuneralhomes.com.
