Obituary of Eugene Smith

Eugene Smith, 60, of Aberdeen, South Dakota passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Arera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD following a brief illness.

Born in Bridgeton to the late Norman Smith and Eugenia Jones, he was a resident of Aberdeen, South Dakota for over a year. He had also been a resident of Bridgeton, Winter Park, FL and spent his formative years in Port Norris.

Eugene had been currently employed with Walmart in Aberdeen, SD as a produce clerk for about a year. He had been employed previously for Palmer Electric in Orlando, FL for over 10 years, Robbins Brothers in Port Norris and Martin Dye and Finishing in Bridgeton. Eugene loved to dance and joke. In recent years, he had taken an interest in barbecuing.

He is survived by two children, Wendeline Johnson of Aberdeen, SD and Kiondra Williams of Port St. Lucie, FL; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his siblings, Geraldine Smith of Philadelphia, Evangeline Coursey of Port Norris, Norma Jean Jones of Port Norris, Wendeline Jones of Millville, Virgina Smith of Millville, Thomas Smith of Laurel Lake, Eugenia Harden of Millville, Bernadine Harden of Millville, Gail Ennals of Millville, Manford Harden of Vineland, Anthony Smith of Bridgeton, Louise Harden of Millville, Michelle Smith of Bridgeton, Crystal Smith of Bridgeton and Shirley Harden of Morristown. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Eugenia Johnson and a brother, Michael Cullens.

Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2411 Memorial Ave., Port Norris on Tuesday, September 18th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Haleyville Methodist Cemetery in Commercial Twp. at a later date. Friends will be received at the church from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
