Obituary of Barbara Sue Horn
Barbara Sue Horn (nee Clark), 76, of Millville passed away at her home on September 6, 2018 and entered the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, following a brave fight against cancer.
She is survived by her beloved husband , Dale, by her best friend and sister Sandra Eppinger of Upper Pittsgrove Township, by her dear brothers Milton Clark (Helen) and Gene Clark, both of Elmer, and by many adored nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Barbara was born at home on September 24, 1941 to Milton S. Clark and Stella Mae (Ford) Clark in Upper Pittsgrove Township. She was predeceased by her parents and by her sister Dorothy Vosila (nee Clark). Barbara was married for 53 years to Charles Burgess, who passed away in 2012.
She attended Elmer Elementary School and Bridgeton High School. She took night courses at Cumberland County College in floral arranging. Over the years, she worked at a flower shop, as a home health aide, in the kitchen at Bishop McCarthy, at Wheaton Glass, and at the Rennock textile factory.
Barbara lived in Vineland for most of her adult life and was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Pittsgrove. In her younger years, she traveled to area churches, singing alto beautifully in a gospel group. She enjoyed visiting the Lancaster area as well as the Tennessee Mountains, where her parents were born. She was a fabulous southern cook and an avid gardener. But her true passion was her family. She was an honorary mother and grandmother to many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, never missing a "grandparent’s day" or special family event. She had a huge heart, an ornery streak, a great sense of humor, and a contagious laugh. Life with her was never boring, and her family will hold her in their hearts forever.
Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township on Tuesday, September 11th at 11 AM.
