Obituary of Jere R. Dare
Jere R. Dare, 84, of Hopewell Twp. died on at his home under the care of hospice on Saturday, September 1, 2018 following an extended illness.
Born in Bridgeton to the late John G. Dare and Martha Bradford Dare, he was the husband of Margaret Sheffield Dare. Jere had been a resident of Hopewell Twp. all of his life.
Prior to his retirement, Jere had been employed by Exxon from 1966 to 1993 in various different roles including tanker driver and terminal specialist. In his younger years, he had worked in farming. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeton and had attended Friesburg Lutheran Church. In his free time, Jere enjoyed hunting, golfing and gardening. He also was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.
He is survived by; his wife, Margaret Dare of Hopewell Twp.; three daughters, Sharon Dare Armstrong and her husband, Dr. Jeffrey Armstrong of San Luis Obispo, CA, Nancy Ann Contino and her husband, Dr. Jeffrey Contino of Hopewell Twp., and Amy Elizabeth DiJoseph and her husband, Dr. Benjamin DiJoseph of Washington Twp.; six grandchildren, Jessica, Zachary, Kaitlyn, Jeffrey Jr., Kara and Kayla; a great-grandson, Colton and a brother, John G. Dare of FL.
Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, September 6th at 11 AM. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Friesburg Lutheran Church, P.O.
