Obituary of Anita L. Bano

            Anita L. Bano, 68, of Bridgeton, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 under the care of Hospice and her family.

 

            Born in Salem to the late Charles May, Jr. and Dorothy Margaret Skellinger May, she was the wife of Ray Bano, Jr. Anita was raised in Fairton and was a Bridgeton resident for over 40 years. She had also resided in Georgia, Colorado, Laurel Springs and Seabrook.

 

            Anita had been self employed as a home healthcare aide for 34 years. She was a life member of the VFW #1795 where she served as a membership clerk. In her free time, she often visited local nursing homes where she would dress as a clown to entertain the residents. She also enjoyed bowling and supporting and promoting local music acts who would often affectionately refer to her as “Band Mom”.  In addition Anita volunteered at the Seabrook Education and Cultural Center.

 

            Besides her husband, Ray, she is survived by three daughters, Nicole Bano (Jill) of Bridgeton, Anita Lynn Adams (James) of DE and Amanda Massing of Bridgeton; her grandchildren, Ashley, James, Jr., Taylor, Kayla and Jordyn and two great-grandchildren, Willow and Isabelle; her second mother, Edith Overstreet May; her siblings, Robert May, Sue Ellen Hack, Charles May, Bodie May, Richard Overstreet, Barbara Overstreet-Cuff, Donna Overstreet-Streahle and Donald Overstreet; her best friend, Carol Kane Vitalone and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; her parents, Charles May, Jr. and Dorothy Skellinger May and her siblings, C. John May, III and Maureen “Bunnie” May.

 

            A visitation and gathering for friends and family will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Tuesday, August 14th from 10 AM to 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Mrs. Bano's memory to the charity of one's choice.
