Obituary of Gilmer Mehaffey

Gilmer “Gill” Mehaffey, Jr., 60, of Fairfield Twp. died on Friday, August 3, 2018 at South Jersey Extended Care in Bridgeton following an extended illness.

            Born in Elmer to Ellen “Polly” Rich Anderson and the late Gilmer C. Mehaffey, Sr., he had been a resident of Fairfield Twp. for the past 10 years. Prior to that, Gill had lived in Elmer.

            Gill had been formerly employed at the family nursery and farm for most of his life. He also loved to provide landscaping services to many of his neighbors at Fairton Oaks where he was well loved by all that knew him.

            In addition to his mother, Polly, of Fairfield Twp., he is survived by four siblings, Cindy Sooy of Fairton, Tracey Mehaffey of Millville, Robinson “Robby” Mehaffey of Alloway Twp. and Rocky Mehaffey of Millville along with many nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Gilmer “Cooch” Mehaffey, Sr.; his brother, Addison “Rooster” Mehaffey and his step-father, Bruce Anderson.

            Funeral services will be held at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. on Thursday, August 9^th at 11 AM. Interment will take place at Deerfield Methodist Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM prior to the services.
