George Simon, age 84, of Upper DeerfieldTwp., passed away on Saturday June 30, 2018.

George was born in Yugoslavia and spent most of his younger years growing up in Germany.  George had been an area resident since 1960 when he came to the United States with his wife Doris and son Ralf.

 

George was initially employed by Seabrook Farms and then worked at Ace Glass, Inc. in Vineland where he retired after 37 years of service.  In his youth he enjoyed playing European football, playing the trumpet in a band and riding his motorcycle.  In his retirement George enjoyed spending time being “Opa” with his grandchildren and frequenting Atlantic City with his wife.

George was diagnosed with Dementia in 2012 and spent the last two years being cared for at Spring Oak Memory Care in Vineland.  He is survived by his wife, Doris Simon, his son, Ralf Simon and his wife Nancy, his daughter Heidi Metcalf and her husband Michael, his loving grandchildren Bryce, Sierra, Justin and Joshua, his sister Maria Frutsche, his nieces Monika and Lisa and his nephew Michael.

 

A private, family only service honoring George’s life will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp.  The family is requesting that in George’s memory donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association https://www.alz.org/  Founded on January 1, 1981, their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
