Never easy to say a goodbye, even if it is only temporary for us all. Not sure how it works on the other side but cannot believe that somehow we will all know each other again. You know I loved you, I told you often enough.

I met Bob when I first started volunteering on the Battleship in 2001. Over the years I have enjoyed talking to him in the Shack and hearing stories of his time on the ship during WWII. His legacy on his ship and with the Radio Club is what I will remember most. My condolences to the family on the loss of this great man, and to Bob I say in parting, Fair Winds and Following Seas my friend.

First I would like to say that I am so sorry for not being there, because Mr. Westcott was always there for me. I had surgery Mon. and could not make it. When we were kids growing up, Josiah, myself, Frank and Danny, we knew we could go to any parents if we needed help and they would help us. This held true for me when I was in Viet-Nam. I was wounded and in the hospital and was worried what my Mom and Dad would be told by the Army. There was a MARS station near the hospital and I had a orderly push me there in a wheel chair. They put a call through and I don't know where it went but it ended up at Mr. Westcotts Radio. He called my Mom and Dad and told them that he had a call from me in Viet-Nam and told them how to answer the call through him. We had a short talk and I got to tell them that I would be O.K. Three days later they got a letter from the Army only telling them I had been wounded and was in the hospital. Needless to say that call put through by Mr. Westcott saved my Mom and Dad a lot of heartache. Even 10000 miles he was there helping me out. He was a good man and I always enjoyed talkin with him at Walmart. All of the good guys are leaving us and I will miss talking with him.

As I read the tribute of your father, my heart is saddened, but, rejoicing as we accept your father has "gone to Glorify Him, face to face!"
Last time I saw him I shared that phrase with him, and he told me to tell you all that at his passing, too.
I've honored my uncle's wishes, I'm not certain I'll be able to attend as we have 3 trees which must be taken down, after high winds last week brought down one within inches of our home, other arrangements can't be made at this point in time. Forgive me?!

The first time I talked to Bob on the phone about the Battleship New Jersey, he gave me the reason to start a radio club on board the ship. I talked to Bob on ham radio from southwest Florida and I knew I had the right frequency when I heard his unique laugh. When he signed off the net in the mornings he would say “I am off to breakfast, talk to you tomorrow if the Lord’s willing.” My wife and I had lunch with Bob a couple years ago. We were impressed in the number of people that came up to him and had kind words for him. It showed us how well he was liked and how he was respected. He will be missed by those that came in contact with him. I am sorry to hear of his passing, my prayers are with the family. 73 Bob Joe Cramer N2XYZ

Hank and I will miss our friend Bob very much. We grew to know him thru WSNJ the radio station he loved and we worked for. Hank and Bob also shared a love of amateur radio. Bob also loved his country, his family and served proudly on the BB 62. We also want his family to know how much we feel their loss, but remember he loved you. Hank and I are very proud to have been able to call Bob Wescott a friend and buddy. With great memories Fred and Hank.

"What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget"

My Dearest Poppop. I am so sorry I wasn't able to get home to see you. I tried my best and so hard. Please, I hope you know that if I could have, I would have been there to be with you and the rest of the family. We are so sad and devastated over losing you. Oh how I wished you were going to be there when we were able to come home. Finley so wanted to met you in person. He loves you so much and enjoyed talking to you on the phone. I was going to send you that card he did for you for your birthday, instead, we opened it and he read it to you instead as he was so heartbroken that it never got to you. Please say hello to Mommom, tell her that I miss her. Try not to drive her crazy! I am sure that the angels welcomed you with open arms, along with Uncle Bobby and Cousins Bobby and Brandi. Give them my love. You all are so missed down here... I love you, Poppop.
