Carl H. West, 89, of Burlington died on Monday, January 29, 2018 at his home.

 

Born in Christian County, KY to the late Ernest E. West and Lolabelle McKinney West, he was the husband of P. Evelyn Rowley West. Carl had been a resident of Burlington since 2012 and had lived in Upper Deerfield Twp. from 1979 to 2012. He had previously lived in Puerto Rico, West Virginia and Atlanta, GA.

 

Prior to his retirement in 1983, Carl had worked for Owens Illinois Glass Co. at their locations in Bridgeton, New Orleans, Huntington, West Virginia and Vega Alta, Puerto Rico. Following his retirement, he and two other friends founded SWK Enterprises where he served as it's first President. From 1998 to 2004, Carl had worked at Star Self Storage in Upper Deerfield Twp. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict in England where he met his wife Evelyn. Carl had also served as one of the original coaches of the Bridgeton Gems Football team and is fondly remembered by many of his former players. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Bridgeton.

 

He is survived by; his wife, P. Evelyn West of Burlington; a son, David Carl West of Helena, Montana; a daughter, Denise West Quinones and her husband, Mark of Burlington Twp.; a sister, Annabelle Brasher of Kentucky and two grandchildren, Elyse Quinones and Christian Quinones.
